FAQs

Have some questions before you apply?

How old do you have to be to apply for camp?

For the large majority of our positions, applicants must be one-year removed from high school in order to work camp. That means they have to graduated high school the year before the summer they are applying for.

What are the different positions that I can apply for?

We have a variety of different summer staff positions, ranging from camp counselors to specialty roles such as worship leaders, photographers, equestrian guides, and more! Check out the Staff Positions page to view the full list of camp roles!

How many different camp locations are there?

We have five different overnight camp locations in Georgia and our day camp teams travel to over one hundred locations across the United States! Check out the Home Page to view a complete list of camp locations!

How do I learn more about each camp?

Click on the "Overnight Camps," "Day Camps," and "International Camps" boxes on the Home Page to learn more info about our different types of camps!

When does Staff Training begin?

Staff Training officially kicks off on May 23, 2023 and that is when the majority of our Summer Staff arrive. There are a few positions that may arrive a few days early, but we'll be sure to let you know if you're in one of those positions.

I have an event I need to attend during the summer, can I leave and come back to camp?

We take these situations on a case-by-case basis, but for the most part, we ask that Summer Staff not leave camp outside of designated off days. We do make exceptions for weddings of immediate family and of course family emergencies.

Can I apply for WinShape Camps International if I have not worked a summer with WinShape before?

Yes! However, due to the nature of our international camp experience, only applicants with prior camp experience (of any kind) are eligible to apply for our WinShape Camps International programs.

How do I apply for one of the nurse positions at camp?

We have a separate application for our nurses (who we refer to as our Healthcare Team). View the "Healthcare Positions" specific page under "Staff Positions".

Are there opportunities to work with WinShape beyond the summer?

Yes! Check out our Beyond Summer page to learn more about how to stay connected all year long!

What does the schedule look like each day?

We have sample schedules available for each of our camp experiences. Click on the "Overnight Camps," "Day Camps," or "International Camps" boxes on the Home Page to learn more.

How much time-off do I get?

Due the different schedules/structures of our camp experiences, off-time fluctuates by camp. Click “View Camp Locations” on the Home Page to see detailed breakdowns of off-time at each location.

How many campers would I oversee?

We maintain a low camper-to-staff ratio at all of our camp locations. Our overnight camps have the lowest ratio (sometimes 5:1), while our day camps have local volunteers who join our teams while we serve a higher number of campers per staff (15:1).

Where does camp take place?

Our camp experiences take place all over the world through our International Camps, all across the country through our Day Camps, and all across North Georgia through our Overnight Camps. Click on the "Overnight Camps," "Day Camps," or "International Camps" boxes on the Home Page to learn more.

How much physical endurance is required?

Camp can be physically demanding and most positions require a high level of activity throughout the day. Are you able to work outside in the heat on hot summer days, walk up to five miles a day and lift/carry up to 25-45 pounds of equipment?

Our goal in the interview is to see if you’d be a fit for WinShape Camps and for you to see if WinShape Camps is a fit for you! To best prepare, think about why you might want to work at a summer camp, why would you want to work with kids, and how you would describe your own walk with the Lord.

When can I expect to hear back after the interview?

For Interviews that occur during the Fall, you can expect to hear back by December! You will receive a phone call or email with follow up information regarding your status with WinShape.
